A "demo" version of a song is an unfinished/work in progress version of a song. Anything could be different, it could be as simple as different mixing, or could be as drastic as the song sounding completely different to the final released version.
Discord Demos[]
On 25th November 2022, Alan Walker was active in the main chat of his Discord server, after the release of Ritual. People were talking about the change in vocalist, from Julie Bergan to an uncredited/unknown vocalist, and how they were hoping for Julie Bergan's version to be released. Alan Walker said "either no rituals or the new version." Heading Home was brought up by someone, mentioning how the demo vocalist, Jesper Borgen, was replaced with Ruben. Alan Walker said Heading Home was "incomparable" in this situation, as Jesper Borgen was only meant as a demo vocalist, while Julie Bergan was meant to be Ritual's final vocalist. It was then brought up that people wanted the original Heading Home with Jesper Borgen's vocals to be released. Alan Walker responded that he didn't see a need for him to release it as it could be found online. People said how they wanted that demo in good quality, to which Alan questioned what they meant by that. They said a "non concert recording", to which Alan posted a Spotify link to the remastered Heading Home demo, heading_home_demo2016.wav. Someone reiterated that it was the version with Jesper Borgens vocals that they wanted. Alan offered to upload this version to Dropbox, as well as the long awaited festival remix of Time. After he posted the Dropbox link, he started adding more demos to this Dropbox folder.

- 1-01 Heading Home.mp3 seems to be the same as the remastered Heading Home demo that released, but bass boosted?
- Time (Festival Remix) is Alan Walker's original remix of Time that he still plays at concerts. The songs title attached to the file apparently indicates that this remix was made in collaboration with Alex Skrindo (AS)?
- Diamond Heart is referred to as "Black & Blue". this could could the songs code name. It is also noted as "Rough draft 2"
- The Diamond Heart demo is different to the one that was played live. This one seems to be older.
- Tired (DEMO Extended) seems to be older than Tired New (Melody Test)
